The Sunshine Girls put in a balanced performance against hosts Scotland to record their third straight victory at the Commonwealth games on Sunday coming away with a straightforward 68-24 win
.
Just as they did in their two previous games, the Jamaicans led from start to finish, winning each quarter of a one-sided game. The girls raced out to a 17-8 first quarter lead and went on to double their opponents score in the second quarter 14-7 for a 31-15 half time lead.

Any hopes the host may have had of clawing their way back into the match were dashed when the visitors blew the game wide open with a devastating third quarter performance. The Jamaicans outscored the Scots 20-3 to end the game as a contest, making the fourth quarter a mere formality.

The fourth quarter was a mirror image of the first, also ending 17-8 as the “Caribbean Queens” cruised to victory in a very commanding performance.

The scorers in the game for Jamaica were, Romelda Aiken 42/49, Thristina Harwood 15/21, Jhaniele Fowler-Reid 11/14.

Two days before the Sunshine Girls turned back the determined challenge of Northern Ireland 65-33 to record their second win at the championships.

Jhaneile Fowler-Reid scored 49 from 55 attempts had more than half the goals in another game that the Jamaicans led from start to finish. She was backed up by youngsters, Shanice Beckford 12 from 16 and Thristina Harwood 4 from 7.

Jamaica will next play Malawi today at 1:00pm local time, in what is expected to be a very close and exciting encounter before closing out the preliminary round against powerhouse New Zealand on Wednesday.

Jamaica currently leads the group and a win today assures them of a place in the semi-finals.
