Rockers beat Blazers 79-64 to avoid sweep in INSPORTS Basketball final

Arnett Garden Rockers avoided the sweep as they defeated Waterhouse Blazers 79-64 in Game 3 of the best-of-five final in the INSPORTS/SCB Community Basketball at Waterhouse on June 6.

Trailing 2-0 in the series, the Rockers got off to a flying start, dominating the first two quarters to lead by 18 points at half-time with Delano Mallett, Vivian Spence and Arnel Campbell in great form.

 

The hosts, however, hit back in the third and fourth quarters but the visitors held firm to comfortably close out the game 79-64 and force a Game 4 which will be played on June 9 at 7:00 pm in Arnett Gardens.

 

Mallett finished with a game high 25 points, in addition to six assists and effecting four steals. Spence and Campbell registered 19 points each, but the latter recorded a game-high 13 rebounds.

 

The Blazers top player Raymond Layne was fairly quiet as he managed just 16 points and seven rebounds. Layne’s below-par performance affected his team overall with Gwayne Marks scoring 14 points and Cordell Grant recording 12 points and five rebounds.
