With th NBA finals beginning tonight the question that comes to mind is will these finals will be an instant replay of last year or will the champions be dethroned?

The defending champions, the Miami Heat and the good ole champions the San Antonio Spurs will face off once again in the NBA finals beginning in San Antonio. This series is the first NBA rematch in 16 years.

Both teams really want to win this title; there is so much to lose and so much to gain if they do. For the Heat, should they win, this would be their third consecutive title and a three-peat would be sweet. For the Spurs, this would be “sweet” revenge having lost last year.

The Spurs have a wealth of experience, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli and Tim Duncan have been playing together for several years. On the other hand, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have been playing together for four years. This means both teams have what is dubbed as a ‘big three’. They are almost evenly matched and can score. Both teams have solid benches that can turn up anytime.

The Spurs had the best record in the NBA this year, they also have a better home and away record than the Heat. On paper the Spurs are better, however they should not underestimate the Heat. The Heat has the best home record in the playoffs this year and they have the best player in the game; Lebron James.

Records don’t matter now, the slate has been wiped clean! Who will bring their A game? Will the Spurs dethrone the Heat or will the Heat break their hearts once more? Tune in, get your pom-poms and NBA gear, let the entertainment begin.
