Waterhouse looking to go 2 nil up in Community Basketball series

Waterhouse Blazers will look to go 2-0 up in the Community Basketball finals when they face Arnett Gardens Rockers at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex tonight.

In a tense and exciting game one played at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium Courts, the Blazers made home court advantage count in overtime as the teams were tied at 60 at the end of regulation.

Waterhouse got off to a comfortable start and led 20-10 at the end of the first quarter but Arnett Gardens clawed their way back in the game in the second, outscoring their opponents by 1 as the half ended 32-23.

The Rockers took the game to the home team in the third quarter, outscoring them 21-14 to cut the deficit to just 2 points as the scores read 46-44 heading into the fourth.

The Rockers won the fourth quarter, just as they had done in the second and third to tie the game 60-60 at the end of regulation.

The Blazers finally found their range in overtime, pulling away to win 74-70.

High scorers in the game were Raymond Layne 21 points and Sean McLain 14 for the Blazers while Delano Mallett 21 points and Vivian Spence 17 led the way for the Rockers.

Tip off for game 2 is 7:00pm.
