Group D

The FIFA World Cup has over the years always manage to create the dreadful “Group of Death” and the  2014 World Cup in Brazil is no exception. Set up for fire works in the group stages, Group D features the first ever back to back champions in Uruguay, The ever popular but unpredictable England, many time champions of the world, Italy and the men from Concocaf, Costa Rica.

The English national team has been invaded by 75% of BPL team Liverpool’s first eleven. With the form the Mersyside team ended on, the the English fans would love to see that transition to the national set up. In addition, the English will need striker Wyane Rooney to finally deliver the goods on the world stage. With the exciting and talented youngsters like : Jack Wilsher, Ross Barkley, Oxlade Chamberling and Raheem Sterling the future is bright and this could possibly be the year they make it at least to the semi-finals.

Italy on the other hand have seen a magnificent turn around after lifting the World Cup in 2006 and then failure to make it from the group in 2010. Under new Manager Cesare Prandelli the team is playing some exciting football and was runners up in Euro 2012. They also managed to qualify unbeaten for World Cup so no one can count these Italians out.

The darling of the World and high favourites to do well at this world cup is Uruguay mostly because of thier lethal, dynamic, mesmorising and very skillfull attcking line up of Luis Suarez, Ednison Cavani and Diego Forlan. This could be the team everyone is secretly betting on but don’t really think they would win.

The Uruguyans will face an easier task first up when they take on Costa Rica while Italy and England will have to go at each other on match-day one. A win for Uruguay and a draw against England and Italy would be a dream as they (Uruguay) would virtually secure passage to the second round.
