Group C

There is always a group in the World Cup which least excites the general footballling public, except of course for those fans of the countries. Group C is one such group. However, in a group such has this one there is always a team who manages to get in the round of 16 (knock out phase) and create some major upsets.

In group C there is the likes of 2004 Europen Champions Greece, Asian giants Japan, a well built South American team in Columbia and African power house in Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).

The Greeks have made it to now their third FIFA World Cup Finals and will want to emulate their fairy tale run to triumph in Euro 2004. They will have to do this with sheer determination and team work.

Japan has made the World’s grandest stage a home for themselves after consecutive trips to the World Cup Finals from 1998 to present and they are looking to at least emerge from this group.

Next up from this group is the men from South America. The Columbians will miss their star man Radamel Falcao from their line-up due to a long term injury, from which he has failed to recover in time fot the start of the tournament.

Finally in Group C comes the overwhelming favourites, the Ivory Coast who has a wealth of talent up top, in the middle and defence. The likes of Didier Drogba, Chieck Titote, Salomon Kalou and Brothers Yaya and Kolo Toure will bring a wealth of experience and talent to this years World Cup and “The Elephants” should create some kind of wave in the round of 16.
