The president of the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) Wavell Hinds is pleased with the partnership and the state of the relationship between the organization he leads and the West Indies Board of Control (WICB).

Speaking at the launch for the 2014 Annual Awards Ceremony at the Eden Gardens Restaurant on Tuesday Hinds said, “The West Indies Players’ Association is delighted to partner with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for the second consecutive year for the Annual Players’ Awards. After successfully working together on the awards last year it shows how much can be achieved when the two organizations work together. Therefore we are thrilled to collaborate with the WICB to honour our top cricketers.”

Hinds also suggested that the collaboration to host the Awards was very easy and hoped that going forward other agreements between the Board and the Players Association will be just as easily reached, while indicating that things have taken a turn for the better between the two organizations.

“We are also quite ecstatic that the Awards will be returning to Jamaica after an 8 year absence. Jamaica has a rich cricketing history and they have been at the forefront of West Indies cricket at the regional and youth levels for some time now. We are confident that the Jamaican public renowned for their ardent support of West Indies cricket will support the Awards,” he continued.

“WIPA would like to congratulate all the nominees and we expect to have another fantastic Awards ceremony to celebrate excellence in West Indian cricket,” Hinds concluded.
