Two intriguing battles loom at the Stadium East Football field today as four Premier League teams hunt a spot in the finals of the Jamaica Yellow Pages/Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Jackie Bell Knock-Out Competition.

The first game of the double header which begins at 5:00pm, will be between Tivoli Gardens and Boys Town in what is expected to be a typical West Kingston derby. Both teams met recently in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), a game won by Tivoli via an injury time winner after both teams missed penalties.

Today’s encounter does not offer three points, but instead will take the winner that much closer to a chance of claiming the $350,000 first place prize.

Andrew Price, the head coach of Boys Town, says his team must put away their chances today and make sure they defend well, a sentiment that is sure to be echoed by his opposite number, Glendon Bailey, who has added schoolboy sensation Junior Flemmings of Jamaica College, to his squad.

The second game of the double header pits first versus last in the RSPL against each other.

Harbour View is comfortable at the top of the RSPL and also defending champions in this competition. In earlier rounds of the competition, the ‘kids’ were given a run out, but now this is the business-end of the competition and all the big guns are expected to be on display.

August Town will not feel over awed or undaunted about playing the league leaders however, as despite their lowly league position, they have been having some good results in the last few weeks and this is sure to have added confidence to the dressing room.

In a knock out competition, league form is of no consequence, so fans can expect a good game of football to be played out.

Harbour View coach, Harold Thomas, is not a man known to take any team lightly in any competition, and will surely set out his team for a win today.

Both games should provide a treat for the fans who turn out to watch.
