Sunderland hoping to build on Cup success

Norwich sit six places and nine points ahead of Sunderland who is still basking in their stunning Capital One Cup victory over Chelsea in midweek. The Canaries who have 18 points will be seeking a win to push into mid-table and away from the relegation scrap heading into the Winter fixtures.

Sunderland however, will have to intensify their efforts if they wish to move off the bottom of the table. Only one team that has been bottom at Christmas has survived the drop, so the omens don’t look good for them at the moment.

Sunderland have only won twice in the top flight this season and they are sure to come up against extreme pressure for Norwich which is fresh out of a win on the road against West Bromwich Albion. Fans also anticipate Gary Hooper’s long range performance in tomorrow’s tackle which is another obstacle that Sunderland will have to surpass to stay in the game this season.
