Stoke City host Manchester United in the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup in a game of great importance to both managers. Neither team has been playing consistently well this season, so both clubs will be looking for a good result today, with a semifinal place the reward for a win.

To their credit, Stoke City, coached by former United legend Mark Hughes, won their last home game in the Premier League with a 3-2 win over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, a team Hughes also played for.

A win today would be fantastic result for Hughes and for Stoke.

David Moyes has had a turbulent start to his managerial career at Old Trafford. After a slow start to the league, his team scored a fine 1-0 win over league leaders Arsenal and that result was expected to be the catalyst to a good run for the club.

Since then however, the Red Devils have lost home games to Moyes’ old club Everton and Newcastle to be languishing in eighth position in the league.

Moyes will be hoping that the 3-0 win over Aston Villa at the weekend will finally kick-start a holiday run which would include a win in today’s encounter.
