Former Reggae Boy and brand ambassador for the lead sponsors of the JISA Alberga Cup football competition Pure Water, Ricardo ‘Bibi’ Gardner, was on hand to watch the final of the competition between eventual winners Hydel Prep and Vaz Prep at the UWI Bowl on Wednesday December 10th.

The former Bolton player was impressed with the showing from both teams in a game that had to be settled by penalty kicks.

Speaking with Yardie Sports at the end of a very engaging contest Gardner said, “It was a great game. That is how a final should be. There were a lot of talented players on show.

“On both teams, there were technically sound players who have a very good understanding of the game. It is a good advert for this level of football in the country,” he continued.

Gardner, who is also the ambassador for the Samsung Cup, a competition for players under 12 years old is looking forward to the finals on Saturday.

“The Samsung Cup is a wonderful competition for our junior players across the island. It is a great stepping stone for them and I can only hope that Samsung will be back with us again next year to put on another great show.”
