Charlie Smith climbs above Camperdown

Charlie Smith have made a perfectly timed late surge in the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup competition defeating St. Georges College then Camperdown High in the space of a few days to draw level on points with the defending champions.

Charlie Smith have made a perfectly timed late surge in the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup competition defeating St. Georges College then Camperdown High in the space of a few days to draw level on points with the defending champions.

St. Georges College lead the group on goal difference and will most likely win the zone but the two big wins by the Jerome Waite coached Charlie Smith team has virtually guaranteed them a semifinal spot when it seemed an unlikely proposition a few days ago. 

Camperdown on the other hand have suffered two crushing defeats to their main rivals in the group following yesterday’s 2-0 home loss to Charlie Smith, which could have far reaching effects  even if they make it to the next round as a best third place finisher.

Finishing as a third placed qualifier means facing the tougher teams in the second round.
