KC pummel powerless Penwood

Kingston College met Penwood High for the second time in this season’s edition of the LIME/ISSA Manning Cup competition at Cloverly Park on Friday September 27th and unlike the first encounter where they had to concede to wake up, the ‘Purples’ were out the gates at the speed of light.

Kingston College met Penwood High for the second time in this season’s edition of the LIME/ISSA Manning Cup competition at Cloverly Park on Friday September 27th and unlike the first encounter where they had to concede to wake up, the ‘Purples’ were out the gates at the speed of light.

The clock had barely ticked past 60 second when Kashane Jones received a through pass from Lincoln Henry and rounded Akeem Tyrell in the Penwood goal to make 1-0.

KC captain Allan Morgan made it 2-0 with a fierce low drive into the left corner of the net from just inside the box in the 9th minute.

Rasheed Dawkins made it 3-0 just two minutes later when he skipped by the left back and blasted past Tyrell at the near post.

Penwood had no answer to the KC onslaught which continued when Tevin Brown had the simplest of finishes when the Penwood defense went to sleep. Brown  tapped in from one yard out in the 23rd minute, to make it 4-0.

Indiscipline crept into the KC team as players began to hold on to the ball too long and players became too casual in possession.  It was up to the captain Morgan, to resume normalcy when he blasted home his second of the game in the 40th minute to make it 5-0.

Kashane Jones who had opened the games scoring, closed the scoring for the first half 3 minutes before the break, making it 6-0.

If Pewnwood had hoped that KC would take it easier in the second half, then that was not to be as the Donovan Hayles coached boys scored just 10 seconds into the second half. Chevaun Blake received the ball from a team mate straight from the kick off and while the Penwood defense snoozed, he dribbled past two players and drilled home past a hapless Tyrell.

7-0 and still 44minutes and 50 seconds left to play!

The precession of goals continued when Jones claimed his hattrick in the 50th minute to make it 8-0. Second half substitute, Dashaun Donaldson made it 9-0 in the 53rd with his first touch of the game.

Another period of overplaying affected the KC team again before Morgan brought back ‘normalcy’ to the game yet again when he got his hattrick and made it 10-0 in the 80th minute.

Donaldson got his brace in the 83rd minute and the scoring was completed by the man who started it all as Jones got his fourth to make it 12-0 five minutes before the final whistle.

KC coach Donovan Hayles was pleased with his team’s ruthless performance – “Against Spanish Town we played pretty well in the first half. Today I challenged my players to play 90 minutes of football. We ripped Penwood apart from early in the game and we continued to impose ourselves on them.

“At half time I challenged them to score at least the same amount as they did in the first half and they did just that. The confidence has returned to the team since we lost to Greater Portmore and I believe that we can do some damage in the competition this year.”
