Flow Champions Cup reaches Quarter Final stage

KINGSTON, Jamaica; The eagerly anticipated quarter Final round of the Flow Champions Cup will get under way next week, with matches played on Wednesday October 2 & Thursday October 3., This next round of the thrilling knock out football competition promises to be the most exciting thus far, even with some 18 games in the first 2 rounds having produced some 69 goals.

KINGSTON, Jamaica; The eagerly anticipated quarter Final round of the Flow Champions Cup will get under way next week, with matches played on Wednesday October 2 & Thursday October 3., This next round of the thrilling knock out football competition promises to be the most exciting thus far, even with some 18 games in the first 2 rounds having produced some 69 goals.

 

The only non-premier league team left in the competition, St. Mary Parish Champions Axum Sports Club will step up to the challenge of play against Arnett Gardens FC inside the ‘Jungle’ at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex with a 5:00pm kick offon Wednesday. Later that day, powerhouse Portmore United is set to tackle formidable opponents Harbour View FC at the Ferdie Neita Park beginning at 7pm.

 

On Thursday, Sporting Central Academy welcomes Waterhouse FC at Juici Patties Park at 3pm in the clash of the competition’s top hit men, Huggarth Nugent and Romario Campbell respectively, in what promises to be an exciting attacking feast, filled with chances and goals. Over in the west, Montego Bay United will try to dethrone the defending champions Tivoli Gardens, hosting them in a feature match  at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex at 7 pm.

 

The Semi-Final draw pits the Winner of Quarter Final #1, Portmore United V Harbour View FC against the survivor from Quarter Final #3 with Sporting Central Academy V Waterhouse FC. The second Semi-Final contest will see the winner of Quarter Final #2, Arnette Gardens FC V Axum facing off against the winners of Quarter Final #4 with Montego Bay United and defending Champions Tivoli Gardens FC. The Semi Finals matches will be played on Monday October 14th as a double header at a venue to be announced.

 

Derrick Brown, manager of the self proclaimed underdogs Axum Sports Club says his team is not fazed by the draw. “We are the underdogs and our aim is to score goals. We have two good forwards in Oshane Dunkley and Ricardo Davis who are scoring goals so we think we can outscore them,” he said. Brown added that the Flow Champions Cup has been good for his players as the team is more focused and trains harder as they are each personally motivated while sharing a common goal, to win the Flow Champions Cup.

 

Tivoli Gardens’, Kasai Hinds was upbeat about the draw, saying, “We drew a good team in Montego Bay United and we just have to be ready for the game. Just like a normal game we are preparing well and everybody is fit and ready to go. We are the defending champions and everybody will be coming at us so all we have do is try and get ourselves ready mentally and physically and we  will be ready to play them.”

 

Cleon Pryce, central forward for Portmore United is looking to lead Portmore United to victory. “We are up against our rivals, it’s going to be a really tough game so all we have to do is go out and play to the best of our ability,” he said.
