The winners of Zone A of the Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League has already been decided. That honour goes to defending champions Barbican FC who will be inactive tomorrow as the penultimate set of games are played in the second round of the competition.

Fourth placed Olympic Gardens have three points and they host fifth placed St. Thomas who are yet to  collect a point. Neither team has a chance of making the semifinals but will be looking to put on a good show nonetheless.

The game in this zone that is sure to get a lot of attention is the one between third place UWI WFC and second place Harbour View FC at the UWI Bowl.

Harbour View made light work of UWI in the first round with a comfortable 3-1 win at home. Since then they have done enough to maintain second place in the zone and hit a purple patch recently with two big wins. The first was when they thrashed Waterhouse 7-0 in the semifinals of the Colour Scape Knock Out competition  followed by a 6-0 whipping of Olympic Gardens last weekend.

Both wins would have done a lot for the confidence of Harbour View who will be looking to do the double over UWI to avenge the double loss they suffered to the same team in the league last year.

The UWI in their last outing in the league did what no team has managed to do since 2011 in any competition and that is take points off the mighty Barbican team. They battled to a 0-0 score line at the Barbican stadium and this would have increased the confidence of the Mona based team significantly after the first round 4-0 humbling they had received from the defending champs.

The match between these two teams tomorrow should be worth going to see as very confident teams do battle for the last coveted semifinal spot on offer.
