Excelsior host Norman Manley in top of the table group B Manning Cup clash

Group B leaders in the LIME/ISSA Manning Cup competition Excelsior, will host second place Norman Manley today as action continues in the corporate area schoolboy football competition.

Group B leaders in the LIME/ISSA Manning Cup competition Excelsior, will host second place Norman Manley today as action continues in the corporate area schoolboy football competition.

Excelsior have won all three games they have played to date but will be wary of a team that is playing good football despite being below them in the table. In fact the wily and experienced coach of Excelsior, Leebert Halliman is totally aware of what to expect from his opponents today.

Speaking with Yardie Sports, Halliman said, “Norman Manley are a top team. They have retained almost all their players from last year while we have lost five. We will have to try to contain them and hopefully frustrate them. If we are able to do that maybe they will crack and we can sneak a victory.”

Such is the respect Halliman has for his opponents that he will be deploying a very cautious approach this afternoon.

“They are a strong attacking team and have retained the experienced coach Alrick Clarke who knows how to win.

“We are yet to put on a good display this season so hopefully being at home will help my players to raise their game,” he said of his troops.

Anyone who knows Halliman knows never to count him out and knows he is likely to have a few tricks up his sleeve for this big game which is set to start at 3:30pm.
