More reviews for Winter Ashes Series

In this winter’s Ashes series in Australia, both teams (England and Australia) will be allotted two additional reviews after discrepancies and inconsistencies with the system in this past summer’s fixtures in England.

In this winter’s Ashes series in Australia, both teams (England and Australia) will be allotted two additional reviews after discrepancies and inconsistencies with the system in this past summer’s fixtures in England.

The system came in for heavy criticisms from both current and former players after a string of controversial decisions. This will see a maximum of four reviews per team up from the customary two.

At the moment, teams are allowed two unsuccessful reviews per innings however; an International Cricket Council trial will start from one October allowing reviews in test matches using to be topped up after 80 overs of an innings.

England won the series three matches to nil condemning Australia to their third Ashes defeat in a row for the first time in their history. This following victories in the last two Ashes series in 2009 and 2010/2011.
