Sherwin Williams WPL offers treat for fans

There will be only one game in Zone A today in the Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League – between Barbican FC and UWI WFC.

There will be only one game in Zone A today in the Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League – between Barbican FC and UWI WFC.

The other previously scheduled game between St. Thomas Strikers and Harbour View has been postponed due to the sudden passing of St. Thomas coach Ms. Marva Espuet.

With Barbican clearly in a rampant mood, UWI will be aiming to at least keep the score-line respectable when they visit the five time defending champions. Both teams go into today’s game coming off of midweek wins, but the previous meeting between them this season saw Barbican coming out comfortable 4-0 winners.

Nickhimia James (7) and Jodi-Ann McGregor (6) have been in good form in front of goal and will be a handful for the UWI defense who must be very disciplined today if they are to eek out any form of a result. Jodi-Ann Thomas and Sherona Forrester have both scored 4 for UWI and will need to be clinical in front of goal if a rare opportunity comes their way. Barbican have not conceded in any competition so far this season!

The Zone B clashes are all mouthwatering treats. Fourth place Los Perfectos will host second place Trelawny seeking a win to get back in contention for a semifinal spot while simultaneously halting the run of a main rival. Trelawny on the other hand will seek to keep winning and seriously dent the prospects of the Manchester based club.

Frazsiers Whip host Arnett Gardens in a game the visitors must win to keep alive their fading hopes of a semifinal spot. The league debutants have been showing a lot more fight in recent matches and Arnett would do well not to take their opponents lightly as they could become the first victims of the ‘Whip’.

The GC Foster – Waterhouse matchup could be worth going miles to see. Both teams will be looking to inflict a killer blow on the other as the battle at the top reaches boiling point. The teams are somewhat evenly matched but with Waterhouse securing the signature of goal scoring machine Kenesha Reid from Barbican, GC Foster will need to be solid at the back.

At the end of today’s games it may be a little bit clearer as to who will be the likely semifinalists this season.
