Gareth Bale has moved a stepped closer to a move to Real Madrid after it was confirmed that he has already agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants. Bale is set to make a world record move to the Santiago Bernabeau but Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has stalled the deal.

A fee of €100m has been reported to have been accepted by Tottenham but Levy is yet to confirm that Bale is free to go. BBC chief sport correspondent Dan Roan has shed light on the delays on this saga that has been going on all summer.

Roan said: ‘The agreement over personal terms has no bearing on the timing of the actual transfer being announced. The conclusion of talks over personal terms is separate from negotiations between Real Madrid and Spurs regarding the amount and structuring of a transfer fee.’

He continued: ‘All that remains now is for Spurs to formally accept Real Madrid’s offer and to agree on simultaneous announcements.’

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has said that Bale could move to the Bernabeau ‘very soon’ after a summer of ongoing speculation about his move. Spurs have spent over £90m on six recruitments in the form of Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Vlad Chiriches and Erik Lamela so far this summer.
