Final four decided in Women’s KO Football competition

The four semifinalists for the Sherwin Williams Colour Scape Knock Out competition were decided on Wednesday when defending champions Barbican along with

previous winners Los Perfectos, Harbour View and Waterhouse all came out winners.

Barbican had a 2-0 win over Frazseirs Whip with goals coming from Shantel Bailey in the 13th min and Jodi Ann McGregor two minutes from time.

Over at GC Foster College, the home team went down 0-2 to Harbour View. Shavell Martin got the games opener in the 75th minute and the game was put to bed in the 87th minute when Trudi Carter got on the score sheet. GC Foster went all the way to the final in their first season last year and will be disappointed to be out of the competition so soon this year.

The game between Trelawny and Waterhouse went all the way to penalty kicks as both teams were unable to break the deadlock after full and extra time. Waterhouse held their nerves to come out 4-3 victors from the spot.

The UWI WFC went down to a heartbreaking loss at home when they were clipped 1-0 by former champions Los Perfectos. In a keenly contested first half, both teams battled for supremacy before the home team took control of the game, creating a number of chances but unable to find the back of the net.

As is often the case in games of this nature, one goal decided the outcome of the game when Shenika Williams found the back of the net in the 56th minute. The UWI thought they had leveled the game a few minutes later but were left dumbfounded when the referee called back what appeared to be a legitimate goal for a foul on a defender.

Despite being put under severe pressure for the rest of the game, Los Perfectos were able to keep out their opponents and advance to meet last year’s winner, Barbican in the semifinals. Waterhouse and Harbour View will meet in the other semifinal.

The semifinals will be played on Saturday September 7th.
