The finalists for the End-of-Round Final in the Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League were confirmed on Wednesday with the playing of two rescheduled games.

In Zone A, defending champions Barbican, already assured of a spot in the final, hosted Olympic Gardens and as expected coasted to an easy 8-0 victory to make it win number four for the season thus far. Victory on Wednesday was built on the back of a five timer from Nickhimia James and a brace from last season’s leading goal scorer and player of the season Jodi-Ann McGregor.

McGregor opened the scoring with a simple tap-in from 3 yards at the back post after only five minutes before James made it 2-0 only five minutes later when the Olympic Gardens goal keeper failed to hold on to the ball and James pounced for an easy finish. McGregor’s penalty strike in the 14th minute made it 3-0 and that was the way the half ended.

It was all one way traffic in the second half as James ran the show, scoring in the 58th, 60th, 85th and the second minute of stoppage time to cap a fine goal scoring afternoon. Shantel Bailey in the 79th, was the game’s other scorer.

Over in Zone B, it was far from straight forward as GC Foster and Trelawny Women’s FC locked horns in what was always going to be a thriller. Both teams entered the game on seven points with the hosts ahead on goal difference and  GC Foster needing only to draw to advance to the final.

After a tense first half that ended 0-0, the game exploded into life in the second half when Sharifa Ingram gave the hosts the lead just 2 minutes after the restart. Trelwany did not allow the goal to get the better of them and responded just 6 minutes later through Shaneek Williams.

Thereafter, it was all Trelawny as they took the game to their opponents. It was no surprise when they went 2-1 up as their dominance of the game paid off. The visitors must have been dreaming of a place in the coveted final before their hopes were dashed in the 89th minute when GC Foster leveled to set up a rematch of last season’s K.O. final.

There is no love lost between Barbican and GC Foster so today’s game should be filled with lots of drama and excitement. Barbican have picked up where they left off last season, with four clean sheets from as many games. The Charles Edwards coached aggregation will be looking to add yet another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet.

GC Foster who only started playing in the league last season, will be in their second final and will be looking to avenge last season’s K.O. Final loss to Barbican.

The game will be played at the Arnett Gardens Sports Complex starting at 3:30pm and should provide lots of excitement for the spectators. Admission is free.
