Two goals from Harry Maguire and Deli Alli plus another brilliant performance between the sticks from Jordan Pickford saw England into the semifinals of the World Cup for the first time since Italia 1990.

Victor Clarson was the first to pop a shot at goal and the ball went into row Z from about 30 yards 13 minutes in.
England captain Harry Kane steered an effort wide of the mark with a scuffed shot after the ball rolled off of the foot of Sterling who had dribbled almost half the field with the ball.
The game was just about putting everyone to sleep when Maguire scored England’s fourth headed goal of the tournament directly from an Ashley Young corner in the 30th minute.
Raheem Sterling had a glorious opportunity to double the England advantage when he trapped a beautiful ball over the top inside the box but Olsen saved the first shot. It was followed up by Sterling who chose to shoot and missed when a pass to Harry Kane seemed a better alternative inside the box.
There was little further excitement in the half as England held unto the narrow advantage after 45 minutes.
Two minutes after the restart Berg had a header at the back post over Young which was superbly saved by Pickford.
With Sweden needing a goal to get back into the contest, the game became more open and Deli Alli benefitted from it when he scored with another header at the back post from a Jesse Lingard cross.

Pickford came up with yet another brilliant save to deny Berg who took a quick shot on the volley after swiveling on a dime to get the shot off.
Things began to get desperate for Sweden and the tension told when LLudwig Augustinsson hit a 90th minute free kick high over the crossbar to end all hopes of a Swedish comeback as Gareth Southgate’s boys took one step closer to a first final since 1966.
