KC takes a 4-1 lead into their return leg, secound round encounter, with Tivoli Gardens High in the feature match at the Stadium East Field in the ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup today. The game is set to start at 5pm.

A triple header at the Stadium East Field and a double header at the Constant Spring Field will provide a second round treat for schoolboy football fans today. Five schools will advance to the quarter finals while five schools will have their season’s come to an abrupt end as the return leg games of the first knock out round of the ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup are played at the two venues.

At Constant Spring starting at 1pm, Wolmer’s and Bridgeport High will continue their keen tussle after the first leg ended scoreless on Saturday. Second seed Wolmer’s are the defending Super Cup Champions and must win today to stand a chance of defending their title. Bridgeport High is one of the best third placed teams and will be looking to upset the odds and secure their passage to the next round. Both teams will believe that victory is theirs for the taking. With a result a must, extra time and penalties will be employed if necessary.

Excelsior High were stunned 2-0 by Calabar in their first leg encounter and it will take a big effort from the Shavar Thomas coached team to overcome the deficit today. The first leg win has increased confidence in the unit from Red Hills Road and they will be bent on not letting the advantage slip. The green and black clad outfit has not enjoyed this type of success in a long time and will be eyeing a passage to the quarter final round with another good result today. The failure against Calabar was the first loss this season for Excelsior and they must show up with their A-game from the very first whistle today if they are to get back into the contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 3pm.

At the Stadium East, defending champions Jamaica College will resume battle with Charlie Smith at 1pm in what promises to be a most intriguing matchup. JC battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the first leg to end 2-2, but Charlie Smith goes into today’s encounter with the advantage of two away goals. This therefore means that a 0-0 draw or a 1-1 draw will be enough to take the Jerome Waite coached team through.

JC struggled to cope with the direct approach of Charlie Smith in the first leg and can expect more of the same today. For the Miguel Coley team to continue their defence of their title they must assume control of the game from the get go. It will not be an easy task for the boys from Old Hope Road but they certainly posses the pedigree to get the job done.

At 3pm, St. Andrew Technical and Camperdown, who also battled to a first leg stalemate will have to come out all guns blazing in a do-or-die game. STATHS has been one of the surprise teams of the competition, twice coming from behind to draw with champions JC in the group stages. Camperdown has a young but ambitious unit and they will be aiming at unlocking the stubborn STATHS defence in order to progress.

The final game set for the Stadium East venue will see Tivoli Gardens going up against overwhelming favourites Kingston College. The Purples take a 4-1 advantage into the second leg match up and it will take a football miracle for the West Kingston based school to overturn the deficit. Tivoli’s goal in the first leg came from their only shot on target in the first half, a deflected free kick that temporarily brought them back into the game at 2-1.

KC is a confident unit that scores goals a plenty and has been held scoreless only once this season. It is hard seeing Tivoli hold the competitions leading scorers goalless while scoring all of four goals to overturn the huge deficit.

All games must end in a result so extra may be a feature in more than one game today.
