Pakistan win by seven wickets to take 1-0 lead in Test series over West Indies

Building on the platform set by captain Misbah-ul-Haq who scored 99 not out in the Pakistan fist innings performance of 407 all out and having pushed the West Indies to 93 for four at the close of play on day four in the first Test of the Brighto Paints presents the Q Mobile Cup Series, the tourists skittled out the West Indies for a mere 152 before knocking off the 32 runs required for victory shortly after lunch on Tuesday’s final day.

With play starting half hour early due to the time lost for rain, Pakistan set about going after the frail West Indies batting, picking up the last six wickets for just 59 runs as man of the match Yasir Shah and first innings destroyer Mohammad Amir did the damage.

Vishaul Singh was the first wicket to fall, one delivery after steering a ball from Amir through gully. Singh chose to leave alone the next delivery from the pace bowler which cut back sharply and knocked out his offstump with the score at 110-5.

Devendra Bishoo just cannot resist the ball outside offstump and fell to Mohammad Abas caught by Younis Khan in the slips, playing at another wide one. Shane Dowrich lasted two balls before he joined his teammate in the dressing room, gone leg before wicket to Abas without troubling the scorers.

At 129 for 7 the home fans were hoping that Chase and Jason Holder could perform another rescue act but that was not to be. Holder fell to Wahab, caught behind for 14 before Shah added to his overnight four wickets, claiming the wickets of Alzarri Joseph and Shannon Gabriel in the same over to end the innings.

Pakistan made a meal of getting the 32 runs required losing three wickets either side of lunch before Misbah ended the 50^th Test match to be played at Sabina Park.
