Excelsior strong woman Shanice Love lived up to expectations by copping the Class One Girls Discus gold medal in a new event record of 52.73m on the second day of the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium on Wednesday. She finished ahead of Hydel’s Devia Brown 42.76m and Tracey-Ann Simms of St. Jago High 41.52m. “I was a bit nervous in the first two throws, then I decided that I was never gonna let the finals miss me, so I kept my nerves and ensured I got a mark and made it in to the top eight throwers. And I came out as the winners. Now I look to the Carfita Games where am looking to break the National Junior Record. Then it’s time to move on to college after that,” an elated Love explained to Yardie Sports.
