Manchester High,STETHS,Ben Francis Cup, Donovan Duckie,

History beckons in the final of the ISSA/Flow Ben Francis Cup, as two of the more entertaining and often mystifying teams of rural area football comes face to face this Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Juici Park Sports Complex, Clarendon.

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) remain on course to add more silverware to their already impressive record of five successive ISSA/LIME Ben Francis Cup titles after topping Dinthill Technical in a thrilling penalty shoot-out semi-final on Tuesday at Manchester High school grounds.

The Omar Wedderburn-coached side edged the Anthony Patrick unit 7-6 in a keenly contested shoot-out, with Dinthill Technical marks man Rodave Murray being the only one of 14 kickers to miss from the spot. The teams had played out to a 2-2 full and extra-time scoreline.

Coach Wedderburn likes to close his post games report with the phrase “PHD” – play hard daily – and if the 110 minutes on Tuesday summed up that philosophy then this was it.

His boys were fearless, refusing to take a defeat for the end product, even when it seemed as it was going to be. STETHS has been defending this coveted cup since winning it in 2010.

The opposition will the Donovan Duckie coached unit in Manchester High School. They secured their final berth, coming from behind to edge Lennon High 2-1 in Monday’s first semi-final at Juici Park.

Manchester will be seeking to execute defeat on STETHS in a repeat of the 2013 final of this Cup. They will going all out to tame and cut the hold of the St Elizabeth team.

The hunt will be in for the first piece of silverware available to DaCosta teams in 2015, as no rural team made it beyond the quarterfinals of the Flow Super Cup.

Both coaches will be banking on their key players to lead them to victory and bring unbridled joy to their teams.

Players such as Romaine Walsh and Duhaney Williams of Manchester and Jahmarie Ranger and Micheal Kerr from STETHS will attract potentially irresistible interest of the fans who will gather.

The winner will definitely be the team that remains composed in possession and stays fiercely disciplined at the back.

The match is scheduled to start at 2:45 pm.
