Harbour View and Boys Town played out an exciting 1-1 draw at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium on Sunday as action got underway in the 2015-2016 season of the Red Stripe Premier League .

Veteran striker Peter Keyes gave the visitors the lead midway the first half only for former Reggae Boy, Jorghino James, to grab the equalizer in the 84th minute to give the home team a deserved share of the spoils.

Both teams started off a bit slowly and it appeared as if the season came upon both teams a little too early.

Harbour view was the quicker to settle and start knocking the ball around. Two early first half free kicks from captain Nichloas Becckett failed to bothered the Red Brigades custodian, Kirk Porter.

New boy, Kemar “Dadda” Daley almost returned a percentage of his transfer fee to Harbour View’s in the 12th minute, when he surged down the right side slipped by two opponents and gave Andrew Allen a wide open goal to shoot at but his effort thundered against the cross bar and into touch.

Boys Town settled and responded immediately. In the 15 minute, Micheal Campbell’s free kick kissed the crossbar and went behind for a goal kick.

Despite having the lion’s share of possession Harbour View were made to ‘pay the price’ when Micheal Blygen and Peter Keyes teamed up nicely with some slick give and go passes, which resulted in a shot from Keyes that skewed off defender Daminan Anderson and into his own net in the 24th minute.

Harbour View continued to dictate matters after the interval, with Daley and Mark Miller spraying passes across the pitch searching for an opening. A stout Boys Town defense refused to buckle as they put up stern resistance to the home team’s attacks.

Coach Bernard took to his bench and made three substitutions. Their best chance of the second half came when Mark Miller’s played a slick pass to Ranique Muir but the striker’s effort was charged down by Porter.

Keyes should have made it 2-0 and his second for the night, when he was sent through from a quickly taken free kick by Campbell but goalkeeper Mark Bryan came up big and closed him down.

With six minutes to go the visitors finally cracked when Edwards found an unmarked James on top of the box. The lanky forwards brought the ball under control before toe poking home the equalizer, denying Boys Town all three points.

With Harbour View’s 61% of possession, 5 shots on target and five corners compared to Boys Town’s 39% possession 2 shots on target and no corners, the score line could have been different but both managers were happy with the result.
