Jamaica soars in latest FIFA rankings

CONCACAF Gold Cup Runner-Up Jamaica is the biggest movers in the August edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Up 21 places to 55th position, Jamaica is one of four countries that have played six games during the period under review.

The Reggae Boyz have benefitted from a good performance at the COPA America followed by their historic run in the Gold Cup that saw them reach the final for the first time in their history. Though losing to Mexico in the final, the Jamaicans represented themselves well gaining many plaudits from pundits and experts worldwide and received commendations from the FIFA President himself, Sepp Blatter.

Argentina still remains number 1 in the world, while Chile who beat the number one team in the final of Copa America has moved up to 10th position. Belgium and Germany complete the top three countries in the world. Gold Cup winners Mexico were also big movers up 14 places to 26th position.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 3 September 2015.
