Lalas ‘diss’ Jamaica after the Reggae Boyz send the USA tumbling from Gold Cup

Jamaican football fans were left seething at comments made by former USMNT player and now FOX TV football commentator and analyst, Alexi Lalas after the Reggae Boyz stunned the defending champions 2-1 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

“So the US loses in the semi-finals of the Gold Cup against none other than Jamaica.”

Those were the opening remarks made by Lalas in his post game show called @TheBuzzer, in a very condescending tone, as if to suggest that it was the worst thing ever to happen to US football.

“This is an unmitigated failure,” he continued. “They have lost to teams like Brazil in the semi-final …or losing to Mexico in the final, this was losing to Jamaica. Cudos to Jamaica, they deserve the win, but this is not a team that the US should be losing to.”

Jamaica and the USA play in the same qualification group for the World Cup and may face each other again soon as they both vie for spots in Russia in 2018.

These words will not soon be forgotten by Jamaican fans and the USA may be in for a hostile evening the next time they play against Jamaica at “The Office” as the National Stadium is referred to on the island.
