Jamaica Tallawahs are home and ready to play in front there home supporters for the first time this season in the HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Starting today, they will play four matches in a six days with the hopes of claiming maximum points at Sabina Park.
Today’s match will be the first time the Tallawahs will get to play under lights at home and the venue is expected to be sold out as tickets are already been going fast.
The Tallawahs, arrived from St. Kitts and Nevis Sunday evening after a 110 run defeat to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots who are captained by Marlon Samuel. They have played four games, which they have won two and lost two.
“The guys are still confident that we can go all the way and it’s still early days so we just have to get it right in the rest of the games that are left” Andre Russell said in interview with Yardie Sports.
“I am really a floater in the team so I can bat anywhere, it depends on the situation the team is in, but I love to bat long so I am enjoying batting at the top of the order” Russell added.
The Tallawahs will come up against the St. Lucia Zouks today, Tuesday July 7, starting at 6pm. Thursday July 9, they will go up against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force for the first time this season, starting at 6pm, Saturday July 11, they will take on defending champion Barbados Tridents, defeated them in Barbados, match time 6pm and they end their home tour against the Guyana Amazon warriors, who they will also face for the first time this season. That match will begin at 4:00pm unlike the others which begin at 6:00pm.
Despite the heavy defeat in their last game, the Tallawahs who were winners of the inaugural tournament, remain in high spirits and are keen to get back out on the field in front to their raucous supporters at Sabina Park.
“It’s really good to be home. The team is really in a good shape as we look to win all four games, despite losing our last game. We have a good squad so we just have to do what we need to do on the day” Krishmar Santokie had to say.
The Tallawahs are currently fourth in the six team tournament
