As the curtain comes down on yet another exciting season of the Berger Elite League (BEL) the third place play-off and game one of the finals will be contested on Friday June 5th at the Leila Robinson Courts at Independence Park.

St. Catherine Racers, one of the team’s tipped to go all the way this year, will face-off with the Manchester Spurs in the third place match starting at 6:00pm.

The Racers were stunned 35-33 by the Clarendon Gaters in the semi-finals but will be looking to finish the season strongly when they take on the Spurs, who will be playing without captain and their best defender, Vangelee Williams.

Both teams are great offensively and having beaten each other once in the regular season, should provide a high scoring treat for spectators before game one of the finals begins.

Game one of the best of three finals is set to start at 7:30pm with both the St. James Sharpes and the Clarendon Gaters confident of victory.

Their two regular season meetings shows just how closely matched these two teams are. They played to the only tie of the competition in their first meeting before the Gaters edged the second game by a single point.

Predicting a winner of this year’s competition will certainly not be easy but it is a no-brainer to suggest that it will be a very close and exciting contest between the exciting and experienced teams.
