Tivoli Gardens will host league leaders Arnett Gardens in a must win game at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex starting at 3:30pm on Sunday, as they fight to extend their season and hang on to the hope of making the top four in the Red Stripe Premier League.

With their fledgling season almost considered over a few weeks ago, Tivoli has somehow managed to remain in touch with the teams above them.

With both Humble Lion and Harbour View losing last Sunday, the midweek 1-0 win by the Alvin Shaw coached team over Cavalier has pushed them into fifth place with 44 points in between Humble Lion (46) and Harbour View (43) and in with a realistic chance of making the semi-finals.

Tivoli will face the league’s most consistent team, Arnett Gardens, who are chasing the $1million dollar prize for topping the tables at the end of the regular season. With just three rounds of games to go, to complete the regular season, Arnett are now within touching distance of what would be a deserved reward for the consistency they have shown throughout the season.

With the stakes being as high as they are, the game is expected to be a fierce contest from the opening whistle as both teams chase three points for differing reasons.

Arnett will start favourites despite playing away from home, as they have not lost a game all round and have been using a set core of players since the start of the season. Tivoli on the other hand has had to mix a match for a large part of the season and it will come down to heart and determination to inflict the first defeat on Arnett Gardens since they last lost to Sporting Central on Valentine’s Day.

Arnett has beaten Tivoli in both previous meetings this season, 2-0 at home and 3-2 away which will give them confidence ahead of the game. For Tivoli, this game will make or break their season and so they are expected to leave it all on the field in front of expectant fans.
