KINGSTON COLLEGE EYES BETTER FORTUNES AT CHAMPS 2015

AFTER five years in the wilderness, Kingston College will be looking to improve their fortunes at the 2015 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Boys & Girls Athletic Championships in March, inside Kingston’s National Stadium.

Kingston College last won a title in 2009 and has been doing progressively worse over the last few years finishing third in 2010, second in the 2011 and 2012, a distant third to Calabar and Jamaica College in 2013, before climbing back into second in 2014.

The elusive 32nd title could happen at the 105th staging of the biggest High School Track and Field Carnival across the globe .

Having latched onto 21 titles, defending champions Calabar and 2011 champions Jamaica College who have 23 titles, will be amongst the main opposition standing in the way of that target.

Their 2015 title bid will be led by the likes of Tuwayne Crooks, Jhevaugh Matterhson, Marco Doodnaughtsing, Yashawn Hamilton, Akeem Smith, Oshane Peart, Taj Rojae Scott, Akeem Bloomfield, Shivanrine Smalling, and Tyreke Bryan.

Hurdlers squad is a very potent one with the likes of Wayne Pinnock, Trezequet James, Jovaine Atkinson, Levaugh Battick, Phillip Beckford., Davian Baker and Chad Miller.

The middle and long distance running is being led this season by Shanthamoi Brown, Roshaun Rowe, and Delano Rochester.

The field athletes will in the likes of Devonte Bancroft, Kristoff Darby, Trevanugh Brown, Gavin Gibson, Tavar Slowely, Shammawi Wellington, Shaquille Lowe , Rasheeda Downer, Rajinda Campbell.

Unseating the defending champions will be no easy feat but with their eyes firmly fixed on the 2015 title, the Neil Harrison coached Boys from North Street, will have what is regarded as one of the best high school mottos, beneath their wings, to soar them to new heights. “Fortis Cadere Cetere Non Potest – The Brave May Fall But Never Yield.”
