As the final round of the Red Stripe Premier League gets underway no team wants to drop any point at this all important stage where it’s still anybody’s take for the top four spots in the league and a place in the semi-finals.

Alvin Shaw’s men played to a well deserved 2-0 victory in their last outing against Montego Bay United. The result meant that Tivoli Gardens remained in sixth place 9 points behind second place Waterhouse FC who will be their opponents tonight.

They can make the top half more interesting if they can beat Waterhouse and Tivoli is not short on firepower, having scored 10 goals in their last 6 games. Their defence has given up 4 goals in that same period and a clean sheet will be on their agenda.

It won’t be a welcoming ‘home coming’ for long serving Waterhouse stalwart Weston Forrest who parted company with the club for Tivoli Gardens at the end of last season. He was responsible for the victory when the two last met at the Edward Seaga Stadium and will be a marked man should he play tonight.

Boasting only one loss in their last five, ‘TG’ has a lot of tricks up their sleeves and they might just pull a rabbit out the hat on Waterhouse tonight.

Waterhouse has scored 8 goals against TG in their last 6 games and will be comfortable at the Drewsland Mini Stadium. Teenage starlet Andre Leslie is hungry for a place in the national set-up and has shown the public a glimpse of his brilliance. He was also among the scorers in last week Sunday’s drubbing of Sporting Central Academy.

Under the guidance of a genius like Anthony Patrick Leslie is destined for success. Patrick a successful Manning Cup winner is used to talent like this and is able to get the best out of them at such a tender age. After regaining a foothold on things since the start of the new year, Waterhouse will be in a militant mood to get three points to inch closer to league leaders Arnett Gardens who lost to the resurgent Humble Lion last Monday night before being stunned by Sporting Central on Sunday.

Revenge and bragging rights is enough to get the ‘Firehouse’ troops gunning tonight. With young players coming in during the transfer window in January and gelling with the experience in the middle Waterhouse should be a delightful team to watch. Two entertaining teams, two teams that are not afraid to take the proverbial bull by the horn.

Spectators should come out in their numbers because goals are expected. Last Monday night billing was not short of excitement and tonight promises to be the same.
