Having recovered from a mid-season slump in form, former Red Stripe Premier League leaders and now second place Waterhouse will host a stuttering Cavalier team at the Waterhouse Mini-stadium at 6:00pm on Sunday hoping for three points that will help them close the gap on red hot Arnett Gardens who do not play until Monday night when they host defending champions Montego Bay United.

Arnett currently lead by nine points and with only two sets of matches left in the second round, the Drewsland based team needs a win today to keep in touch with the runaway leaders.

With a lot of senior players returning from injury, Waterhouse now has a bench to call on as they look to regain a winning mentality heading into the crucial final round in a few weeks time.

Eighth place Cavalier cannot seem to buy a goal at the moment and may be the team that has hit the woodwork the most this season. Their return in front of goal stands at a meagre 12 goals from 20 games, the same as bottom placed Barbican.

The transfer window has not been particularly kind to Rudolph Speid’s team and even the returning Chevone “Messi” Marsh has not yet helped to fix the problem in front of goal.

Cavalier would have long since given up the ghost on finishing in the top four, despite leading the league for a number of weeks early in the season. They are now in danger of slipping into the relegation dog fight and need to start scoring goals and picking up three points to avoid that situation in the final round.

Both teams drew on the last match day when goals were at a premium in most of the games played but will be hoping that their respective strikers report with the goal scoring boots on today. A win today would be a great boost for the travelling team, but the hosts are expected to have their usual vocal fans to provide support and will them on to victory.

Waterhouse will start favourites at home but coach Anthony Patrick will want to guard against complacency knowing that the situation for Cavalier is getting more critical with each passing week.
