Red Force clips Jamaica’s franchise in Nagico Super 50

Trinidad & Tobago Red Force defeated the Jamaica Franchise by 17 runs to jump to the top of Group B in the Nagico Super 50 tournament. The twin island republic win was led by their captain Rayad Emrit who bagged 5 for 56 from his allotted 10 overs to earn the man of the match performance as the Jamaicans, chasing 233 for victory, was dismissed for 215.

Jamaica fight back was marshaled by a well played 51 from Nkrumah Bonner and 40 from David Bernard Jnr. The team also had contributions from John Campbell who scored 26 runs, Andre McCarthy chipped in with 37 while Jeramine Blackwood added just 14 to the total.

The Red Force got to their total thanks to the performance of the bravo brothers, Darren 55 and Dwayne 34, along with Kieron Pollard who stroke his way to 41 runs.
The Jamaican Franchise bowling attack was lead by Captain Nikita Miller who bagged 2-18, David Bernard also copped 2-48, Marquino Mindley also cashed in with 2 wickets for 36 runs and Damion Jacobs securing 1- 62.

Red Force Bowler, Kevin Cooper was also impressive with the ball claiming 3 for 43 helping to see his team across the line.

Emrit was left a delighted and ecstatic Captain both at own performance likewise the team’s display.

“It is nice to get a five-wicket haul in any form of cricket, I try to improve every year I turn out for T&T and I must say I am enjoying my game right now. Having said that, I believe we need to bat better as we progress in the tournament,” said Emrit.

The winning Captain also gave thumbs up to the Bravo Brothers and their efforts in the wining cause, but in the same breath called forth the younger players.

“I must give credit to Dwayne and Darren who showed maturity with the bat, but I still feel the young players like Evin Lewis and Jason Mohammed need to come good with the bat if we are to win this tournament. It’s going to be a total team effort and I believe we have the bunch of guys here to do the job.”

Jamaica will have to win their last group match in their group against the U19’s to progress to the semi final. A new champion will be crowned as the defending champion Barbados Franchise lost to the Guyana Jaguars in their group A match.

Other results from yesterday group B matches saw the Leeward’s Hurricanes beating the West Indies u19 team by 48 runs. Chasing 231 to win the U19’s faltered to 183 for 9 from their 50 overs.

After two round of matches, Trinidad & Tobago lead Group B with nine points from two games followed by the Jamaica Franchise on five, the Leeward Hurricanes four. The West Indies U19 is yet to get off the mark.

Group A sees the Jaguars with a perfect record sitting on 9 points from CCC franchise on 4 points , the Barbados franchise on 2 points the same as the Windward’s Volcanoes.
