Narine down but not out

Despite not being able to bowl a ball in International Cricket since October 2, 2014, Sunil Narine still managed to hang on to the number one spot in the Recently Released Reliance ICC Player ranking for ODI bowlers. He currently leads by two rating points (753) ahead of Pakistan’s spinner Saeed Ajmal (751).

The Trinidadian bowler who is nicknamed “the Mystery spinner” was reported for a suspected action during a CLT20 match during this year’s tournament which resulted in him being barred from bowling for the rest of fixtures and he also missed the controversial Indian Tour by The West Indies.

The top five bowlers were rounded out by Dale Steyn of South Africa, Australian Mitchell Johnson and Banglasdesh Bowler ShakibnAl Hasan.

The next best Windies bowler is Kemar Roach who is listed at number 20.

The batsmen from the Caribbean are all languishing outside of the top 20, with the younger of the Bravo brothers, Darren, being the best placed player at 38. Jamaica’s Marlon Samuels is listed at 42, one notch above Lendl Simmons who sits at 43.

The top five batting slots reads South Africa’s AB de Villers in the top position this ahead of India’s Virat Kohli, Hashim Alma (South Africa) , Kumar Sanagakkara ( Sir Lanka ) and Indian Shikhar Dhawan.

Australia currently leads the 12 team standings on 117 points same as that of the India who is in second with South Africa third on 112, Sir lanka 110 and England 104 rounding out the top five. West Indies is ranked eight on 96 points one behind Pakistan and New Zealand who are both tied on 97 points.
