The downward spiral of Reno FC in the Red Stripe Premier League continued on Sunday as they slipped into the relegation zone for the first time this season when they were beaten 4-2 by Tivoli Gardens as STETHS.

The All-Island Knock-Out Champions for 2014 have found the going tough since lifting the FLOW Champions Cup in November and finished the year in a position no one would have predicted when they sat atop the league in September.

Despite having the league’s top scorer Craig Foster, who hit a brace to take his tally to 13 goals, the Patrick Graham coached team was soundly beaten at home. Foster put Reno ahead three minutes before the interval but Jamoy Sibbles, who also had a brace, equalized on the hour mark before putting Tivoli ahead thirteen minutes later.

Two more late goals in the 83rd and 89th minutes from Andre McFarlane and Elton Thompson sealed the win for the visitors before Foster scored in time added with the game already lost. Reno now occupies the 11th spot while Tivoli crept up to 7th.

The other promoted team Barbican, still has not found an answer to their goal scoring crisis and ended yet another game without finding the back of the net. Beaten 2-0 at home by the improving Rivoli United, Raymond Beckford’s team now sits in the cellar position.

The red hot Corey Burke kept on the coattails of Foster when he notched his 10th of the season in the 31st minute after Kevin Graham had put Rivoli ahead in the 7th minute.

Rivoli jumped above Cavalier and into fifth place after Rudolph Speid’s men were edged 1-0 at the Stadium East Field by Humble Lion. Cavalier has not scored a goal in five games, picking up only two points in nil-all draws in that time, slipping from second place to sixth in the interim. The transfer window cannot come soon enough for a team that looked set for at least a semi-final position, a month ago.

The win for Humble Lion from a 39th minute Devon Hodges strike, means they are out of the dreaded drop zone with a precious 16 points and a confidence boosting four match unbeaten run, to end the calendar year.

Boys Town tore up the form books when they defeated fierce rivals and fourth place Harbour View 1-0 at Collie Smith Drive. Despite languishing in the bottom half of the table for much of the season, the Red Brigade got the better of the Stars of the East to move out of the drop zone and into 10th position.

Rafiek Thomas who has been in fine fettle despite his teams lowly position, converted the lone goal of the game from the penalty spot on minute69.Thomas, third in the goal scoring table, now has nine.

Defending champions Montego Bay United virtually assured themselves of top spot going into the New Year when they clipped Sporting Central FC 1-0 courtesy of a late strike by Omar Gordon. Tied on points with Arnett Gardens but leading by virtue of goal difference at the start of the day, the Carlos Garcia coached team moved three points clear with a +7 advantage over the “Junglists” who play on Monday away to third place Waterhouse.
