Brown dethrones Campbell in Alliance Buccaneers golf tourney

Wesley Brown dethroned defending champion Fabian Campbell in the Alliance Buccaneer Memorial Golf Tournament after shooting 73 to Campbell’s 81 on Sunday. Both golfers ended Saturday’s day one on two over par 74 at the Caymanas Golf Club in St. Catherine. Campbell ended the tournament in 4th position behind Alfred Robinson and Ewan Peebles who both closed the tournament on a combined 154 for the two days.

Sean Morris shot 75 on Sunday on top of Saturday’s 74 to top the Men section ahead of Jonathan Newnham 150 who ended on just one stroke behind. Newnham is Jamaica’s youngest golfer to represent at the senior level. Third position is shared by Bryan Bailey and John Donoghue. They ended the tournament on 156 each.

O’shae Haye 73 who shot the lowest score of all the golfers on day one, shot 85 on Sunday to end behind the leaders.

Men Senior went to Radcliffe Knibbs with scores of 77 on the two days (154) while last year’s winner Rory Jardine dropped to second with a combined score of 156. Third went to Philip Prendergast (162) who lead on day one after shooting the lowest score of 74 in the Men Senior section.

The Men Super Senior section had an exciting finish with a play-off between Phillip Wilson and Easton Williams but Wilson came out the winner. They ended the tournament with combined scores of 161 each. Peter Chin, president of the Jamaica Golf Association and of title sponsor Alliance Investment Management and Buccaneer Teddy Richards shared third place with scores of 163 each.

Tiana Cruz 157 got the better of Kei Harris (161) to tope the Ladies section. Rochell Prince who lead at the end of day one dropped to third place after shooting 166 for the two days.

In the Men Junior section Luke Chin (132) edged Max McCloy (133) while third went to Sebert Walker Jr. (134).

The presentation and awards function will be held today at the Constant Spring Golf Club in Kingston starting at 7:00 pm. The presentation of the proceeds of the tournament will also be made to the Laws Street Trade Training Centre at the function.
