The tournament features two different competitions running concurrently. One will be a two-day – 36-hole Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) qualifier while the other to be played on Sunday will be a modified Stableford competition in the form of a charity fund raiser for the Laws Street Trade Training Centre. The objective for this year is to hand over in excess of the eight hundred thousand dollars which was paid last year.

The format of play features: Saturday and Sunday – Medal Play HCP 1-12, Modified Stableford HCP 13-24, Professional, Men, Seniors, Super Seniors, Ladies and Juniors while on Sunday it will be Modified Stableford HCP 10-12, 13-24, 25-36, Men and Ladies. Mais said that the course is not in the best shape but is good enough to host a well run tournament.

Michael Wong of the charity Laws Street Trade Training Centre (LSTTC) thanked the organizers of the tournament for their annual generosity over the years. The LSTTC started on July 1, 1984. It provides training in sewing, baking and computing as well as 300 -350 food and care packages to the needy every other week.

Last year eight hundred thousand dollars were handed over to the charity with over four million dollars to date.

Peter Chin, the president of title sponsor Alliance Investment Management said the charity was a worthy one and that his company and the Buccaneers were pleased to be able to assist them to help the need.

Last year’s defending champion in the professional section, Fabian Campbell said that he was looking forward to the tournament. He feels that the competition will be stiff against people as such as Wesley Brown who had a very good 2014 on the US circuit and others like Paul Warren and Ewan Peebles.

This year’s competition is being played in the memory of five of Jamaica’s outstanding past national representatives, namely Milton ‘Buddy’ Josephs, Izette Rhone, Lenan Lennie Chin, John Fulford and Al Chong.

The title sponsor is Alliance Investment Management while the associate sponsors are AMG Packaging & Paper Company, CGM Gallagher Insurance Brokers, Chad-Ad distributors, Digicel Business Solutions, Remax-Elite, Wata, Maxxis and Supreme Ventures.
