The 2014 edition of the UWI Guild/Sagicor Champions League had a frenetic start on Friday night as last season’s finalists both produced dramatic but contrasting wins as they both set their sights on reaching the finals yet again.

In the curtain raiser, three time defending champions Attica (Block D – Taylor Hall) spurred on by a brace from Dennis “Blacks” Nicholson came from 2-0 down to register a stunning 3-2 win over “The Revolutionaries” of Rex Nettleford Hall.

The second game of the double header provided even more drama as Block X of Chancellor Hall conceded an own goal in second half injury time after leading 1-0 through an early second half goal.

Block X then succumbed to the Roosters in a dramatic penalty shootout in which the Block C goalkeeper Daraine Morgan produced 3 fine saves to send his team into the second round.
