Unbeaten JC crush Holy Trinity

Photo: Captain Junior Flemmings hit a brace as Jamaica College blew away Holy Trinity 4-0 in the Walker Cup yesterday.

Jamaica College who has been unbeaten all season crushed Holy Trinity by 4-0 in the ISSA School Boy football Walker Cup competition yesterday at the Constant Spring Mini-stadium.

The stands were filled, mostly of the “True Blue” supporters and the conditions were ideal for football which set the stage for a good encounter.

JC started the game as favourites but did not have it easy in the first 25 minute as a stubborn Holy Trinity showed character and was pressing the ball from the first whistle.

Holy Trinity did get two corner kicks in the first 10 minutes but an organized JC defense dealt with them easily.

JC did got their first corner of the game in the 12th minute but captain Junior Flemmings’s header went wide.

The Old Hope Road based school should have taken the lead in the contest when Ronaldo Brown receive a ball in the six yard box but his miss-hit shot looped over the cross bar. However, Flemmings get past a defender in the 18 yard box and become the provider for Brown who maked no mistake with his second chance. He picked his spot calmly to get the go ahead goal for the dark blues in the 35th Minute.

Flemmings got his first of the contest five minutes later when Holy Trinity failed to clear the ball out of their eighteen yard box and swung his foot in the ball which went right through the Holy Trinity custodian hands to make it 2-0 to JC, a lead they held to the break.

On the resumption JC started with more confidence than in the first half, and it showed in the 47th minute when Flemmings took a shot just inside the box to have Antonio Millington in goal struggling to deal with the ball.

Ronaldo brown could have pull one back for Holy Trinity in the 59th minute when he received a ball in the box but could not finish with only the keeper to beat. Soon after Flemmings making space and running between two defenders saw his powerful shot saved by the Holy Trinity shot blocker Millington to keep the score line at 2-0.

Flemmings scored his second of the game and gave JC a 3-0 lead sortly after. A brilliant square from Shemar Robinson on the right to Allando Brown resulted in his shot being saved but Flemmings was there for a simple tap in.

The supporters were leaving due to the rain when man-of-the-match Flemmings fed Raffique Bryan with a through ball and he finished to make it 4-0 in time added on.

JC was ruthless in front of goal and did made Holy Trinity pay for their mistakes and numerous missed goal scoring opportunities.
