The Jamaican transfer window, for the National Premier League closed Friday August 29 2014 at 11:59 pm. The transfer window is never one to create a big buzz for local football fans as happens in Europe, however, one team which maked big moves in this transfer window is, shockingly, not a so called “rich teams “ but the Trench Town based club Arnett Gardens FC.

Yardie Sports visited the home the “Junglist” and saw some noticeable players from some teams who are considered title contenders for the 2014-2015 RSPL season. Players from teams like Cavaliers FC, Harbour view FC, Tivoli Gardens and now relegated Portmore United, now allappear ready to pull on the famous Red and Black stripes of Arnett Gardens.

One such player seen at the complex was school boy standout Marvin Morgan Jr. Yardie Spotrs sat down with Morgan and ask how his 2013-2014 team Waterhouse FC were playing in CFU Champions League and he is not there? Morgan replied “ He was nursing an injury and unable to travel with team for the first playoff game against the Haitian team”.

Yardie Sports: For the coming season will you remain a player of Waterhouse

Morgan: “ With current directions I don’t think so”

Yardie Sports : “ Why would you want to move away and isn’t there an existing contract?.”

Morgan: “ Ever since former coach Junior Francis, who brought me to the club, parted ways, things haven’t been the same and I just felt like its within my best interest to make a move. As to the contract, yes there is a contract, however, I am hoping that if the management of Arnett thinks am good enough then both clubs will reach an agreement”.

Yardie Sports: “A move like this may be seen as very controversial after moving from Boys Town to Waterhouse and now looking to move to Arnett, how do you expect fans to react, knowing that all three teams are rivals?”

Morgan: (Laughs) “ Fans will be fans and my main focus now is to get into the Arnett team and play some really good football and hopefully help Arnett to lift the title at the end of the season”.

Yardie Sports: “With Arnett being your prospective team do you think with the current squad and many you’ve seen in training will be capable of winning the league? Also how do you plan on dealing with the megastar egos and differences that you might face in the changing room?

Morgan: “ I would be very new to the changing room and would have to do my utmost best to build team spirit as I am not anti-social and everyone should by now understand that this is business and act as professionals. As for the team’s chances, it will come down to the coaching staff and proper management as I believe that if everything goes right we should be champions at the end”

Arnett Gardens is no doubt one of the team’s that everyone will be looking at for the new season. On paper, if all the signings are confirmed, they should be able to move up from last seasons 4th place finish to being real contenders for the top spot.

Arnett has managed to stave off challenge from rivals and near neighbors Boys Town to retain the services of midfield maestro Renae Llyod, while retaining most of their squad which includes captain Oniel “Bigga” Thompson, Newton Sterling, Fabian Reid and Shamar Malcolm.
