The battle of the “North Street Giants” is the most famous derby in corporate area schoolboy football and fans will be treated to four such matches this season as Kingston College (KC) and St. Georges College (STGC) are set to face each other in two preseason tournaments, as well as being drawn in the same group in the Manning Cup for the first time in years.

The famous “Purples” and the famous “Sky Blues” will both be vying for Group A honours in the Manning Cup which begins in September after they meet in the “Georges Cup” next weekend and the highly anticipated Roper Cup at the end of August.

The Bertis Bell coached STGC failed to win any trophies last year, which came as a shock to many and they will be aiming to set the records straight in 2014. Kingston College has a rich history in schoolboy football, but major titles have eluded them for over two decades. They will be hoping that acquiring the services of experienced coach Lenworth Hyde will result in a change of fortunes for the school.

No doubt old boys and fans of both schools will be packing the school grounds for these clashes.
