The workload will increase for the country’s top eight schoolboy football teams in the 2014 season and beyond, with the introduction of the ISSA/LIME Super Cup to be played between the semi-finalists of the Manning Cup and the DaCosta Cup competitions. The reward for the winner of this new competition being introduced by the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) and sponsored by telecoms giant LIME, is a whopping $1 Million dollars.

The games will be played on Saturdays, running from October 18 to November 8. Another change to the schoolboy football season will be the removal of the two-way tie for the Olivier Shield which is contested by the Rural Area champions and Urban Area champions. The Shield will now be decided in a one-off game and the rural champions will host the urban area champions this season. Jamaica College is the defending champions of the Olivier Shield.

The format of the Super Cup is yet to be announced, but is sure to provide a tremendous incentive to all the participating teams and increase the excitement of the nation’s most followed football competitions.
