Reggae Girls strike hard against Surge

Jamaica’s National Senior Women’s team, the Reggae Girls, presently in Florida finalising preparation for participation in Group 5 of the Caribbean Football Union Women’s Championship played their first practice game on Tuesday. The game was against FC Surge, a women’s soccer team in South Florida, consisting of college and international players.
 
The Reggae Girls won the encounter, 4-0 with goals from Shakira Duncan (2nd and 31st); Myjnairii Perkins and Omolyn Davis.

 

The squad departs Miami on Monday, June 16th for the Dominican Republic where they will play their first game against St. Lucia on June 20th.

 

The CFU Women’s Championship is a qualifying tournament for both the Womens’ Gold Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Canada in 2015.

 

Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been played and the top teams are ready for the final CFU Qualifying Round set for August 19th -26th in Trinidad and Tobago. The qualifying teams so far are Antigua and Barbuda; Bermuda; Martinique and Haiti.
