Louis van Gaal is the new manager of Manchester United

Manchester United has officially announced that Dutch master tactician Louis van Gaal is their new manager. The announcement was made this morning by Chief Executive Ed Woodward who also confirmed that club legend Ryan Giggs will be the assistant to the 62 years old manager.

van Gaal was expected to take on the United job for weeks and held meetings in his hometown with Woodward and Giggs, but the announcement was delayed due to the Netherlands friendly match against Ecuador. Football’s worst kept secret was finally revealed by Woodward who hailed the Dutch master as one of the best in the business.

He was quoted on Goal saying, ‘In Louis van Gaal, we have secured the services of one of the outstanding managers in the game today. He has achieved many things in his career to date and Old Trafford provides him with a fitting stage on which to write new chapters in the Manchester United story.’

Louis van Gaal himself also commented on the opportunity to work with the Red Devils and made it clear he wants to make a big contribution to the club.

He said, ‘To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world, makes me very proud. This club has big ambitions; I too have big ambitions. Together I’m sure we will make history.’

van Gaal’s immediate task is to prepare for the World Cup with the Netherlands. There are reports stating however that he has informed the board at Old Trafford of the players he wants to sign this summer as well as his plans for the players in the youth ranks. It is exciting times again at Old Trafford and the fans will be hoping that their club get their transfer business done very early.
