Yohan Blake was a happy man after finishing his first 200m since 2013 when he stopped the clock at 20.49 seconds at the UWI Invitational Track and Field  Meet yesterday. Blake who sat out most of last season when he got injured early, was happy to have finished the race injury free more than anything else.

“It’s my second race of the season and I am feeling good. I am working on my fitness, right now I am 60 per cent and I am really feeling good,” Blake said.

“I have to give God thanks, as well as the coach, it’s been a rough road and for me to come out here and run 20.4 is really good,” he added.

“It was a really good race, I ran the curve really slow compared to how I normally run. But my coach told me to take it easy and that’s what I did.”

Undoubtedly, getting back to top form is the main focus of the former world champion.

“I am looking to get healthy and get back to the top where I was before. Training is going really great…and everything is falling into place,” he explained.
