Defending champions Holmwood Technical have their sights set on defending the title they took back from Edwin Allen at last year’s staging of the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships starting today. Holmwood have been dominant on the female side of Champs and despite not setting the world alight at the various development meets during the season believe they have what it takes to repeat.

Defending champions Holmwood Technical have their sights set on defending the title they took back from Edwin Allen at last year’s staging of the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships starting today. Holmwood have been dominant on the female side of Champs and despite not setting the world alight at the various development meets during the season believe they have what it takes to repeat.
The team received various products to aid in their title defence from year to year sponsors Carimed yesterday through some of their brands namely, Ensure, Voltaren, Gillette and Orbitz Gum.
Speaking with Yardie Sports, team captain and sprint hurdler Yanique Thompson was measured in her personal expectations, “I am going out there to do my best and hopefully that will get me the gold medal.”
She was more forth coming as it relates to the overall team performance saying, “The girls are ready to defend. We didn’t look great during the season but we have the ammunition to get the job done.”
Chanice Bonner, a seasoned veteran of Champs and in her final year, was also pragmatic about her personal expectations, “I am expecting a tough championships but I am hoping to medal in both the 100m and 200m and contribute as many points as possible to my team.”
Her optimism about winning the title was much higher, “We are confident of defending the championship and the vibes is good in the camp. We want to ‘shell it’ this year and take 1-2 in most of the events,” she said.
Not only are Holmwood the ‘Queens of Champs’ but they are also the’ fashion Queens’ and this year they have introduced a new hairstyle called the ‘Frizzle Dizzle Puff’.
On and off the track, Holmwood are sure to provided lots of entertainment for the fans during the 5 days of Champs.
