Carimed Limited through their premier brand Ensure, made special presentations yesterday, to four of the schools participating in this year’s ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships that gets underway on Tuesday March 25th.

The schools that benefited from this presentations were, Kingston College, Wolmers’ Boys, Calabar High and Excelsior High.

Allison Dexter, Senior Brand Manager for Endure said, “Ensure understands the importance that proper nutrition plays in the life of persons with active lifestyles like our athletes. We participate in and sponsor a number of development meets that leads up to Boys & Girls Champs – namely The Douglas Forrest Meet, The Grace Jackson Queens Meet, Ben Francs Invitational, Western Champs and Camperdown Classics.

“In addition to the development meets, Ensure  continues to support the nutrition program of our athletes and offers its support in a tangible way with the donation of Ensure products to schools.

“This program has been in existence for the past 8 years. Schools that have benefited include Holmwood Technical, Immaculate High , Wolmers Girls, Wolmers Boys, Calabar, KC, Edwin Allen, Excelsior to name a few. We are handing over product to the coaches and they will, along with their Nutritionist give to the students depending on their nutritional needs.”

Dexter went on to outline the role her company has played in track and field over the years.

“Our involvement in sports and track and field in particular  has been primarily to sensitize coaches, athletes and support persons to the role that good nutrition plays in  performance. Nutrition becomes particularly important to “clean” athletes as they have no other source of “fuel”.

“We do this by facilitating sports  nutrition presentations by professional nutritionists. In addition, we  make  specials available primarily to schools.”

“Ensure, at various times,  has been a part of the nutrition program of some of the leading track and field high schools including Kingston College, Calabar, Wolmers Boys, Immaculate, and Holmwood. For the past 4 years Ensure has been an integral part of the nutrition program for coach Glen Mills’ Racers Track club, training base of the phenomenal # 1 ,2 & 3 runners in the World,” she concluded.

The pain reliever ‘Voltaren’ was also donated to help with recovery from muscle aches over the hectic period of champs.

The 2013 edition of the Boys’ and Girls’ Championships saw a total of 30 records being set and established over the five days. The performance of a number of athletes over the last few weeks has led many to believe that a large number of records will be broken again this year.
